GROW Challenge rules
Eligibility
The GROW Challenge is open to all classes currently enrolled in grades 3 through 5 within the state of Colorado. Students must be actively participating in a classroom that is registered for the GROW Challenge at the Poudre Learning Center.
Artwork Specifications
- Originality: Artwork must be the original creation of the student(s) and reflect the assigned prompt related to environmental stewardship, animal structures, or biodiversity. No AI or digital image generation tools may be used.
- Medium: Art can be created using traditional methods (e.g., drawing, painting, mixed media). The canvas is provided by the Impact Earth program and should be appropriate for display.
Submission Deadline
All artwork must be submitted by the end of the schoolday on March 28, 2025, to be considered for the competition. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Permission for Display
By submitting artwork, teachers agree to allow the GROW Challenge organizers and associated partners to display the artwork at the Student Action Environmental Fair and related events. Teachers and parents consent to the use of photographs or videos of the artwork for promotional purposes.
Judging Process
Artwork will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Evidence of stewardship
- Interpretation of subject matter/theme
- Creative techniques
- Composition and overall appearance
A panel of five judges, including environmental experts and art professionals, will review submissions. The judges' decisions are final.
Winning Classes
Winning classes will be notified via email or phone by April 15, 2025. Selected artworks will be displayed at the Student Action Environmental Fair on May 7, 2025, and winners will be honored during the award ceremony at the event.
Publicity
The GROW Challenge reserves the right to publicize the names of participating teachers, as well as display images of the artwork on Poudre Learning Center and partner materials. Participating students' families may be asked to complete a media release form in order to honor student accomplishments in a public setting.
Submission Terms & Agreement
By submitting artwork, teachers and parents/guardians agree to the following:
- The submission, including any text and illustrations, is the original work of the student(s) and does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights.
- The GROW Challenge and its associates are granted the right to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, and display the submission and related materials for promotional and educational purposes.
- Participants waive any rights to further compensation related to the use of their submission by the GROW Challenge and its partners.
